At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, we aim to promote healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage all our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through class and school councils, fundraising events and supporting nominated charities. PSHE lessons and assemblies give pupils opportunities to develop confidence, self-motivation, and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities within our diverse society.
We teach PSHE in a variety of ways: as a discrete subject, through assemblies and through other subjects such as RE, RSE, History, Geography, English, Maths and Science, as well as through outdoor educational visits and community activities.
We have developed our own curriculum programme incorporating the Diocesan-approved Life to the Full Plus units of learning which covers RSE, high-quality texts which challenge stereotypes, promote respect and enable children to understand more about protected characteristics, as well as ensuring children have opportunities to engage with current, worldwide issues.
