School governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school’s aims and policies. As well as this they hold the headteacher to account for pupil attainment and progress, performance management, financial performance and have a number of duties which include the appointing and dismissal of staff, ensuring pupil and staff are safe, hearing appeals and setting standards. The role of the governor is very important to our school.

My name is Ali Fagan-Hall. I am mum to 3 boys who attended St Monica’s primary school & Cardinal Newman Catholic High School. My eldest son will be starting his PGCE in September at St Peter’s Academy in Manchester.
I have always been an active member of the community with years of involvement in St Monica’s PTA. I now have only one child at Cardinal Newman so an involvement with Our Lady’s as foundation governor will fill a gap when school life is over.
I have the greatest respect for the teaching community and I’m excited to support Our Lady’s in the role of foundation governor.
My background has always been in the NHS. I started my career as in 18yr old, firstly as a nurse and then in 2000, I changed career path to train as a midwife. My job is extremely rewarding, challenging and busy. I have an extended role as a Professional Midwifery Advocate, this enables me to support midwives using restorative clinical supervision.
I hope to contribute in supporting the leadership team of Our Lady’s and help to build on the schools vision of each child achieving their full potential.
Outside work I enjoy running, walking my dog, baking and spending time with my husband and boys.

My name is Sacha Humphries and I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in September 2020. Prior to working in Education, I worked in Risk and Compliance for Equitable Life and Schroders Investment Management Ltd. However, having spent time working as a volunteer in an inner-city school in London, I decided to change careers and retrain to become a teacher, as I knew it would be far more rewarding. Since qualifying as a teacher, I have worked exclusively in Catholic Education and developed a passion for school improvement becoming a National Leader of Education for the Department for Education. More recently, I was Headteacher of Saint Mary’s in Congleton, securing an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted in 2017. I am now CEO of Wythenshawe Catholic Academy, which consists of a high school and three primary schools, and work for the Diocese of Shrewsbury as a primary adviser. Through my work for the Diocese, I have been fortunate enough to support Our Lady’s and I am excited to now be able to contribute further as a governor.
Outside of work, I enjoy multi-generational living, as I share a house with my mum, as well as my husband and two teenage sons. I also like to spend time walking my dogs, running, doing virtual boot camp classes and supporting my Parish.

My name is Kevin Walsh, husband of one, father of two, professional actor and driver of Trucks. I have been a parent Governor at Our Lady’s for 4 years. Born and raised in Latchford and still living in the local area, the family values and catholic ethos that Our Lady’s holds dear, are what first attracted my wife and I to the school, which our two children now attend. I was delighted to become a parent Governor for the school priding myself in being able to influence those family values, and most importantly the Catholic ethos both in the school; and our children’s lives, to make sure they get the best education, one that they and every other child at Our Lady’s deserve.
