Welcome to Year 5!

Home Learning

Monday 30th March

Good morning Year 5, I hope you've had a relaxing weekend and managed to spend some quality time with your families. I've certainly been busy baking, tidying and creating new home learning challenges. This week I've created a timetable of tasks, from Monday to Friday, and included all the resources for each day below. These engaging tasks can all be completed independently and if you need further support, please ask an adult or contact me via Seesaw and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Take the time to look at the final page of the timetable since I have attached a range of exciting activities to break up the day and give you some relaxation.
Just a quick note that the activities I set you on here are there for guidance, to try and make your home learning experience easier! So if you can’t manage it all, or you want to do extra or something different, that is fine. The main priority is to keep your brains ticking!

I have sent you an annoucement via Seesaw related to Coronavirus-related fraud reports. Please read the information carefully to protect yourself and your family. https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/alert/coronavirus-related-fraud-reports-increase-by-400-in-march

Challenge time- Send me a video of you attempting to do your best accent. I will send you a video back of me trying to copy your new accent!

Take care and keep working hard,

Miss Redmond

Our class teacher is Miss Redmond.

We are lucky to have support from Mrs Smith as well as Mrs Gawne-Sheridan teaching us on Thursdays. Fran Sixsmith also teaches us how to play the keyboard.

Year 5 is an exciting year where we aim high and love learning! We are in Upper Key Stage 2 so we should be setting a great example to the rest of the school.

Important things to remember:

  • Please ensure your child has a labelled PE kit in school every day. PE lessons are every Monday and Tuesday.
  • Keyboard lessons are on a Thursday morning with Fran Sixsmith.
  • Homework is handed out on a Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday. Please ensure their homework is presented to a high standard. If your child is having any problems with their homework, please ask me for help as soon as possible.
  • Homework will include:
Spellings - spelling test will be every Thursday.
Maths - linked to our learning that week or times tables.
English - e.g. reading comprehension or grammar practise.
  • It is really important that your child reads regularly - they should all read at least three times each week. All reading should be noted in reading records and an adult must sign this once a week. Reading and discussing the book with your child will develop reading comprehension skills too.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to see me at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Miss Redmond
